Poyais is the legendary fictional country promoted in the 1820s by Sir Gregor MacGregor. Visit Poyais reimagines that story as a modern official-style tourism, trade, residency, currency, heritage, airport, and gift-shop portal.
Poyais was presented as a Central American territory of extraordinary promise: fertile soil, rivers, harbours, useful productions, civic order, and commercial opportunity. The historical reality did not match the promotional presentation, which is why Poyais remains one of the most memorable fictional countries in financial and imperial history.
Sir Gregor MacGregor styled himself as Cazique of Poyais. The modern Visit Poyais project uses that founder mythology in a deliberately official voice: reverent, polished, confident, and carefully absurd.

Preview Bank of Poyais ReproductionsVisit Poyais is useful by design: it explains Poyais, preserves source references, creates a complete fictional national portal, and lets the comedy come from official overconfidence. It is not a real country, government, bank, travel destination, visa authority, or investment jurisdiction.
