The Zero-Mosquito Republic is the modern Visit Poyais transformation of a historical naming problem into a national comfort brand: tropical climate, no mosquitoes, no compromise.
The 1822 guidebook argued that the term “Mosquito Shore” created the wrong impression and that the territory was unusually little troubled by mosquitoes for the tropics. Visit Poyais upgrades that reassurance into a full national identity.
The standard is presented as country-wide: airport, capital, Black River Coast, forest boardwalks, waterfronts, lagoons, and official terraces. It is a satirical travel-comfort claim, not a real-world pest-control guarantee.
The Commission maintains the official story that mosquitoes approach the boundary, reconsider, and depart.
Visit the CommissionThe concept supports the central tourism line: The Mosquito Coast, Reconsidered. It also connects to the airport, resorts, evening terraces, and visitor reassurance.
